As soon as the first buds appear in spring, take the almond tree path from the medieval-inspired garden beside Sainte-Catherine church. Pass through “Amandoley”, a locality that refers to an area planted with almond trees, and then along the supervisor’s path. Follow the road to Anzé, and try to find the few olive trees that flourish there. It’s a magical walk, waiting to be discovered as soon as the sun comes out.

Many winegrowers reserve a place for the almond tree in the corner of their plots to enjoy its fine flowers, delicate fragrance, brownish fruit and welcome shade.

Our advice
Call the Saillon tourist office to find out whether the almond trees are in bloom, as the flowering period varies from year to year, and doesn’t last very long!
